Juried Exhibition

The 29th Willamette Valley Juried Exhibition is featured at the Corvallis Arts Center from October 2 - November 5. This year's juror is Henry Sayre.

Sayre is Distinguished Professor of Art History at Oregon State University in Corvallis. In his writing and research, he focuses on the arts and their interrelations, particularly on contemporary genres such as performance and installation art.

Sayre has won many awards for his teaching and service to the University, and has received numerous grants and fellowships, including three from the National Endowment for the Humanities. He recently completed production of a multimedia teaching package for art appreciation, that includes a 10-part television series, Works in Progress, co-produced with Oregon Public Broadcasting and aired in the fall of 1997.

Sayre is the author of several books, his most recent, Going On: Narrative, Performance, and the Ends of Art, will be published next year. His essays have appeared in a wide variety of books and journals.

There is a Reception and Henry Sayre gives an Artist Talk and announces the exhibit award winners, Wednesday October 6, 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Members receive a 20% discount on fine art purchased during the evening.

At press time, the artwork had not yet been selected. Information on who participates in the exhibit will be printed on the Exhibition card; biographical information and artist statements will be available in the exhibit-book at the Arts Center, 700 SW Madison, at Central Park, Corvallis. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Sunday, noon-5 pm.

The Corvallis Arts Center is located at 700 SW Madison, at Central Park, Corvallis. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 5 pm. The are extended hours during da Vinci Days: Saturday, July 17 from 10 am to 7 pm and Sunday, July 18 from 10 am to 5 pm.
